Zine – Hated Smells

My Stuff

As part of a uni project we had to create a zine (a quick lo-fi magazine) on the subject of hate.

I chose to look at what myself and my friends’ most hated smells were. I also stated tips on how to avoid these smells.

The aim of the zine is to get mine and others opinions across but to also allow the reader to agree or disagree with the comments I have put in it.

We were to produce it at a low cost and only on a black and white printer. The paper stock was our choice and we could also hand render each page if we chose to (to add colour i.e. using pens).

My Stuff

tokyo:ocean (lowercase only) was a fictional shop for everyday people of all ages and backgrounds in Hoxton London.

It has 3 levels; Café + Gift Shop; Restaurant; Exhibition Space. The outcomes were to produce a style guide (logo, colour-ways etc.), a series of Posters promoting events to be held in the exhibition space, Wall Graphics to be used in the Restaurant and a Zine (on the subject of Hate) to be made (20 copies).

Came across this very spooky abandoned block of flats in Berlin, and took photos of its exterior early February at night. Would have liked to have gone in to get some brilliant photos but there was no way that was going to happen! With the camera flash on I was able to create some rather eerie outcomes as well. The building is left alone and there is no activity; therefore it is dead.
